May 5, 2023

One of the UKs leading experts in Lean Methodology will be giving his insight into how business heads in the region can build a better culture and increase output.

Steve Boam, CEO of Develop Consulting who works with some of the largest organisations across the UK in manufacturing, construction and healthcare, will be speaking at an event being held next week (May 17th) to help SMEs with productivity and performance.

This free seminar, Productivity or Bust: Why Productivity is vital for SMEs to survive’ will give valuable insight to businesses who want to improve their potential and thrive despite the current economic climate.

Steve worked for Toyota in the UK and Japan before supporting businesses and the public sector for the past two decades as a consultant, specialising in helping businesses to improve using a Lean methodology, and has worked hard at not just improving productivity within companies, but also changing the mindset and cultures of the people working there.

He said: “It can be a very structured approach when it comes to changing methods of working within a company, but the key for a business to survive is to achieve a sustainable culture change within leaders and employees to drive your business forward. This is the tricky part for most organisations and can make or break the success of a company.”

Mr Boam will be joined at the event by Fiona Latter, from West Midlands Combined Authority who will be outlining what support is available to businesses in the region and Rebecca Waterfield from South & City College Birmingham discussing the skills gap in the West Midlands and what can be done about it.

As many SMEs can benefit from training also speaking at the seminar will be Dan Briscoe, a Managing Director of an established interactive eLearning and coaching company click2 learn, who support people and businesses to improve. There will also be the voice of an industry expert Darren Jones, Environment and Sustainability Director of award winning Sonihull Ultrasonic who will be discussing how the individual can impact the productivity of a business and the region.

This event is a must for any business looking to not only survive in the current economic climate, but create a culture of continuous improvement to boost performance to deliver for the customer and create internal capability and capacity for the future.

The free event will be hosted by award-winning event host and BBC broadcaster Dave Sharpe is being held at South & City College’s Longbridge Campus on Wednesday, May 17 and will run between 8.30am and 11.30am.

Networking opportunities will be available at the start and end of the session.
