Productivity or bust: an SME improvement event based in Birmingham for smaller businesses

Productivity for SMEs talk set to help businesses survive the future

April 12, 2023

Continuous Improvement training provider click2 learn teams up with South & City College Birmingham for productivity talk.

Business transformation experts who work with some of the biggest brands in the UK will be offering free guidance on how SMEs can thrive by unlocking productivity at an event taking place next month.

The talk, titled ‘Productivity or Bust: Why productivity is vital for SMEs to survive’ will be an essential guide for businesses who need to achieve more with less and navigate through uncertain times ahead. Visitors to the morning will discover essential techniques to optimise processes, engage employees and unlock productivity throughout their organisations. Helping them stay competitive in these challenging financial times.

The event will feature some of the leading Lean and Continuous Improvement experts, alongside business, growth and training specialists from the region, while also offering valuable networking opportunities. Dan Briscoe, Managing Director of eLearning company click2 learn, said they were looking forward to sharing their knowledge.

“It’s a really difficult time for most businesses throughout the country at the moment and we want to demonstrate why unlocking productivity is essential for smaller businesses going forward. With rising costs everywhere and a national skills shortage, staying competitive has become much harder, so we want to share some proven methods that can not only transform productivity, but increase employee capability, helping SMEs thrive, not just survive the coming months”.

“We believe that companies can gain the competitive edge by being able to achieve more with less, rather than allowing poor productivity hold them back. With the right skills and direction, a business, especially an SME, can easily achieve improved productivity of up to 30%,” he said.

Mr Briscoe added: “The event will be a great chance for business leaders to hear how applying an improvement mindset to an organisation of any size, can transform its performance and create a highly engaged workforce.

Rebecca Waterfield, Director of Business Development at South & City College Birmingham where the event will be held, said: “We are really proud to be a part of this event and to host it at our Longbridge site, which is synonymous with car production fits in beautifully with the theme.

“We work closely with regional and national employers to ensure that curriculum meets current and future skills needs to ensure our students are the talent of the future, so this talk will be pivotal for us to speak to some of the key industries in the region and find out their needs too,” she said.

Further details will be given later this month on speakers.

The free event, which will be held at South & City College’s Longbridge Campus on Wednesday, May 17 runs between 8.30am – 11.30am.

Networking opportunities will also be available at the start and end of the session.
