West Midlands Combined Authority to outline business support to boost regional productivity

May 8, 2023

Businesses within the West Midlands will be given valuable insight into what support is available to them to help boost productivity from a West Midlands Combined Authority head.

Fiona Latter, Employer Services Programme Manager which is part of the WMCA, will be speaking at a free Seminar being held at a Birmingham College this month.

Fiona will be outlining what support is available to employers in the region to help boost productivity at the event designed for SMEs to thrive in these challenging financial times.

The talk, titled ‘Productivity or Bust: Why productivity is vital for SMEs to survive’ will be an essential guide for businesses who need to achieve more with less and navigate through uncertain times ahead. Visitors to the morning will discover essential techniques to optimise processes, engage employees and unlock productivity throughout their organisations. Helping them stay competitive in these challenging financial times.

Fiona said: “I am really looking forward to this event which will be a time for businesses around the region to hone in on what’s important for them to focus on. I am passionate about supporting the SME community.

“Birmingham as the ‘City of 1000 Trades’ has always had the SME Community close to its heart and a prosperous private sector, which in Birmingham is comprised of approximately 86% of SME Businesses, is something that will help strengthen the public sector and the wider ecosystem in equal measure,” she added.

The free to attend event will feature some of the leading Lean and Continuous Improvement experts, alongside business, growth and training specialists from the region, while also offering valuable networking opportunities.

Also confirmed to be speaking is Darren Jones, Environment and Sustainability Director of award winning Sonihull Ultrasonic. Mr Jones will be speaking about how an individual’s productivity can directly impact that of the region.

Dan Briscoe, Managing Director of eLearning company click2 learn, said they were looking forward to sharing their knowledge.

“We are thrilled to be hosting this event alongside South & City College and to be offering our insight and knowledge to business leaders, operations and HR managers who are looking to implement change or have some key insights from some industry leaders. With rising costs everywhere and a national skills shortage, staying competitive has become much harder, so we want to share some proven methods that can not only transform productivity, but increase employee capability, helping SMEs thrive, not just survive the coming months”.

Rebecca Waterfield, Director of Business Development, at South City College, added: “There is still time to sign up and we hope to see many faces from key industries within the West Midlands come along to the free talk which will absolutely add value to your day.”

Networking opportunities will be available at the start and end of the session, with the morning starting at 8.30am and running until 11.30am.
